Commission a Portrait
A commission for a portrait starts with a discussion with the client. Together we talk about setting, pose, colors, style and size. Of utmost importance is a trusting relationship between the painter and the client.
Whenever possible, I prefer to spend some time getting to know the subject for an hour or so before any sketching or photography is done. I schedule a sitting and/or photography session at your convenience. This first session or "sitting" can take place in my studio or at your home, office or other location, and will take from one to two hours. Extensive photographic reference material is gathered to allow me to proceed in my studio after the sitting concludes. Working with Existing Photographs
For most pet portraits, photos are provided by the pet owners. I will use the photos as the reference for the portait. Make sure the photo reflects the exact color, pose and personality of your subject. Most of the pet portraits you see in the pet gallery have been done with photos provided for me.

These are estimated prices. Each painting is negotiated individually to suit the clients needs, depending on delivery time, size, impressionistic or realistic style, detail of backgrounds and fabric, number of subjects etc.
